We are seeking an Rental Division Manager to join the Cincinnati Region of Messer Construction Co. This position supports Messer’s Rental Division, which provides high-quality rental equipment, supplies and services to all of our construction project participants. This individual will manage all aspects of equipment rental in the Louisville region, including internal and external customers; support the expansion of services in that region; and lead process improvement. This individual must possess a high level of organization and time management skills, as well as be able to manage processes while thinking creatively. A customer service mindset, excellent communications skills and the ability to perform at a high level without direct supervision are essential. Additionally, this individual must be a self-starter, be able to adapt to non-routine assignments, and be able to interact with people at different levels within the organization.

What You Will Do:

  • Mangement Functions:
    • Lead and develop a team of Rental Division Coordinators, promoting safe work practices, professional development and project support
    • Develop team members to be equipment consultants, project advocates and strategists
    • Leads by example, driving consistent results through a systematic approach to project support
    • Promotes and supports coordinators with direct work and MES projects, establishing relationships with vendors and sub-contractors
    • Leads team to meet or exceed department metrics
    • Maintain communication/coordination with the logistics and fleet department
    • Approve and procure "sub-rental" arrangements as needed to facilitate regional needs
  • Administrative functions:
    • Receive, prepare and approve regional orders for timely and accurate deliveries
    • Issues/approves purchase orders and approves vendor invoices
    • Keeps accurate transaction records via point-of-sale system
    • Assess loss or unreasonable damage to equipment for adjustment/billing to the customer
    • Attends weekly work plan meetings with project management
    • Review on-the-job equipment list with project management, maintaining accurate record of off-rent dates
    • Confirms accuracy and delivery of subcontractor billing statements

What You Will Bring:

  • College degree preferred or 7 years of construction management, equipment rental industry, or in a directly comparable role
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Ability to consistently identify and maintain focus on changing priorities
  • Ability to put strategic focus on growing business opportunities and relationships
  • Computer literate; can adapt to new software/systems, particularly in a point-of-sale system
  • Knowledge of function and features of construction-related equipment
  • Ability to work non-routine hours as required
  • Desire to learn and grow professionally
